Privacy Policy

Your data stays
with you.

Effective 18 September 2026. This policy covers the KokoronoKi app for iPhone, on the App Store and in TestFlight, and this website, hackney.games.

Who we are

Hackney Games Ltd is a game development and publishing studio registered in England and Wales, company number 15850410, with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. We are the data controller for everything described on this page.

What this policy covers

The KokoronoKi app for iPhone, whether you installed it from the App Store or as a TestFlight tester, and this website. Our web and Telegram games are separate services with their own notices, shown where you play them.

The KokoronoKi app

The app does not collect, store or transmit personal data. It has no account and no sign-in, it contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, it has no in-app purchases, and it makes no network requests of its own.

Your progress and settings are saved only on your iPhone, in the app’s own storage. Deleting the app deletes them. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, that data travels with the backup. The backup belongs to you and your Apple account. We cannot see it and cannot restore it for you.

What Apple processes on its own

Apple runs the App Store and TestFlight as an independent data controller. When you download the app, Apple processes your Apple Account and device details under Apple’s privacy policy. If you have turned on “Share with App Developers” in your iPhone’s analytics settings, Apple may pass us anonymised crash reports; we cannot identify you from them.

If you test KokoronoKi through TestFlight, Apple collects your email address, name, device information, crash logs and any feedback you send, under Apple’s TestFlight privacy notice. Apple shares the feedback, screenshots and crash logs with us, linked to the email address we invited you with. We use them only to fix bugs and improve the game, and we never pass them to anyone else.

What we do process, and why

This is the complete list.

The site sets no cookies and loads no analytics or advertising scripts.

Sharing and where data is stored

We do not sell, rent or share personal data. Three companies handle data for us, each under its own terms: Apple for the App Store and TestFlight, Amazon Web Services for hosting this site, and Google for our email. Email may be stored on Google servers outside the United Kingdom under Google’s data transfer safeguards. Nothing reaches any of them from inside the app, because the app sends nothing.

Children

KokoronoKi is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, children included. If you are a parent or guardian with a question, email us.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive a copy in a portable format. For the app there is nothing to return, because we hold nothing. For email and TestFlight feedback we act on requests within one month.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to help first.

Security

The most secure data is data that never leaves your device, which is how the app works today. Email travels through Google’s encrypted service. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you if something goes wrong with data of yours.

If any of this changes

If a future version of KokoronoKi adds analytics, purchases or any other feature that processes personal data, we will update this page first. We will name every provider and what it receives, with links to its own policy, state how long we keep the data, ask for your consent where the law requires it, and mention the change in the App Store update notes.
